PREAMBLE: Tanzania has recognised the essence of low impact tourism to the wildlife and its habitat. Potentially through inception of new approaches in Wildlife Management and abandoning the old approaches of "fences and fines" by recognising the potentials the communities around this resource play in the better should they be involved and really fully participation in the sake of it. The community is now very much involved in the natural resource management in Tanzania as the sector is rapidly evolving on competing land uses and human population building up rapidly. These resources can and will not persist if ECOTOURISM is not practiced so as to give an alternative source of income to the communities around these resources-wildlife and its habitat. Since the inception of new approach in most parts of Tanzania the rate of wildlife resource depletion has been decreasing slowly as communities have realized the fruits of their participation in wildlife management and conservation. The Government support to low impact tourism also known as sustainable tourism or widely as ECOTOURISM was setting the Thresholds for the use of the wildlife habitats in terms of controlling number of visitor, vehicles, number of investors inside or around the protected areas. Tanzania National Park (TANAPA) uses the Threshold Potential Concerns and the Limit of Acceptable Use / Change to monitor, mitigate and evaluate the impacts of tourism in the National Parks. Proposed development projects within and around the National Parks must also be subjected to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedures. LOW IMPACT TOURISM-ECOTOURISM This has been referred as the ecosystem friendly type of tourism unlike the earlier mass tourism that degraded the most of country's natural resources - wildlife and its habitat. In TANZANIA this type of Tourism is widely practiced as it covers most aspects of nature or scenery appreciation and there has been so many slogans such " Leave only finger Prints", "Until you arrived the Park was clean" etc to safeguard the wildlife habitat - the major product in tourism in Tanzania.
